Terms of Use

These terms apply to use of Lindenhurst Residents Directory. By using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Nature of the Service

Lindenhurst Residents Directory is a privately run reference that describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections relating to Lindenhurst, Suffolk County, and New York. It does not host government records and is not connected with any office, court, library, or custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use the service or linked results to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person.
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order.
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act.
  • Make a credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or other FCRA-regulated decision.
  • Systematically scrape, copy, or republish the service at scale.
  • Interfere with operation or security.

3. Consumer-Reporting Status

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing provided here or through a linked tool is a consumer report, and it may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Outside Links

Government portals, repositories, and third-party services have separate terms and privacy policies. We do not control their availability, content, prices, or data practices.

5. No Warranty

The service is supplied as is and as available. We make no warranty that content is complete, accurate, current, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose, and a linked portal may change without notice.

6. Liability Limits

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from use of the service or a linked resource.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operators from claims, demands, and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising from misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Brief attributed quotations and ordinary linking are permitted; full-page republication or systematic copying is not.

9. Changes to Terms

We may revise these terms by posting a new version. Continued use after a revision is acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Restricted Access

We may limit or block access when a user violates these terms, misuses the service, or threatens its security, with or without notice.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6 §§84-90, governs the public-agency records discussed here, but does not turn this private reference into a government office.

12. Severability

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
